A 22-year-old drunk man, who stuck his head out of a speeding car, died here after being hit by a roadside tree, police said Thursday. His scared friends abandoned the car and left his body in the rear seat. Two people were detained.
The body of Ashu, a resident of Baljeet Nagar in central Delhi, was spotted in the abandoned car by a police patrol van near Jhandewalan Metro Station in central Delhi early morning, police said. Several injury marks were found on his head and hands, police said.
Investigation revealed that the man was accompanied by his three friend in the car and died after being hit by a tree. Two of his friends, Firoz and Brijesh Pandey, in the mid-20s, were detained, police said.
According to a police officer, all the friends were going towards their home Wednesday midnight when the head and hand of Ashu, who was sitting on rear seat, was hit by a tree and he died on the spot.
Ashu's friend Shiv Shnakar, who was driving the car, is absconding, police said.
After the incident, Ashu's friends panicked and left his body in the abandoned car, police said.
Police said all the men lived in a shared rented accommodation and were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident.
A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered.
