A 38-year-old man died on Sunday after colliding with an electric pillar while parasailing in West Bengal's East Midnapore district, police said.
The incident took place at Mandarmani, a seaside resort.
"Tarun Ghosh died after he collided with an electric pillar while parasailing on the beach," Superintendent of Police Alok Rajoria said.
A resident of Rejinagar in Murshidabad district, Ghosh, along with some friends, had gone to the popular beach on Saturday.
Ashok Giri, Trinamool Congress legislator from Ramnagar, said many agencies offered parasailing services without permission from the administration.
"Most of the agencies offering parasailing do not have requisite permission. The administration has ordered all such agencies to stop the adventure sports for now," Giri said.
