A 35-year-old businessman gunned down his wife and 10-year-old son and then turned the gun on himself in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad district, police said Wednesday.

The incident took place Tuesday night in Orange County residential society in Indirapuram area.

Ankur Gupta, a garment exporter, first shot dead his wife Sarita, 30, and then fatally shot his son Parth, police said.

After killing both of them, he then shot himself dead.

At about 11.30 p.m., Ankur's younger brother Ankit reached home and found all the three dead, and informed police.

Police found a locally-made pistol and three spent rounds on the spot. The body of Ankur Gupta was found in the living room, that of his son in the bedroom and the body of his wife was found stripped lying in the bathroom.

Ankit Gupta told police that he returned late at night and knocked on the door several times. On not getting any response from inside, he used his duplicate keys to open the door. As he stepped inside, he found all the three lying dead in different places inside the flat.

"We have sent the bodies for autopsy ... it seems a case of murder-cum-suicide but other angles have to be looked into," said Superintendent of Police (City) Muniraj.

Ankur Gupta was engaged in manufacture and export of garments. He and his brother Ankit ran their factory in Masuri-Gulaothi industrial area.

The family had recently shifted to a flat in Orange County from their residence in east Delhi's Mayur Vihar.
