A young man who murdered his friend more than seven months ago and made phone calls to police to dare them to arrest him was arrested on Tuesday, police said.
Pradeep Yadav, 21, of Nanglagumani area of Ferozabad district in Uttar Pradesh, was arrested from Rajiv Chowk here on charge of strangulating Raju, 24, of Panna district in Madhya Pradesh, on January 14 night.
The accused committed the crime in IMT Manesar area of Gurgaon with a motive to rob the victim and dumped the body at an isolated place there.
"After committing the crime, the accused made phone calls from the mobile phone of the deceased to the police control room and challenged them to catch him," Jagdish Prasad, incharge of Manesar police station, said.
Both Yadav and Raju worked in private factories in IMT Manesar.
"We are questioning him after obtaining three-day police remand from a local court," the officer added.
Yadav was also involved in a dowry death case in his village, police said.
