Delhi Police arrested a person wanted in connection with the murder of his room partner here, police said on Friday.
The accused, identified as Vinod, 25, was arrested on Wednesday night from Khajuri Chowk area. He was visiting one of his friends when a police team raided him.
According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Ravindra Yadav, Vinod, a native of Jharkhand, worked as a catering helper in marriage functions. He had killed his room partner Mahender Tomar on July 15, 2016.
"Vinod had fled to Jharkhand after committing the crime and had been hiding in some forest area of the state. A cash reward of Rs 25,000 was also announced on his head," Yadav said.
"During interrogation, Vinod told police that he used to live with Mahender Tomar, the deceased, in Karawal Nagar. Tomar used to abuse him and use filthy language for his wife. This infuriated him and he planned to eliminate Tomar," Yadav said.
On July 15, 2016, Vinod took liquor with Tomar. Later they had a fight, following which he attacked Tomar with a sharp-edged stone, which caused his death, the officer added.
Vinod also told police that he belonged to a poor family in Jharkhand and started working as a domestic help in West Bengal.
"When he came to know that his elder brother's wife was having an extra-marital affair with a local person, he got very disturbed and moved to Delhi after burning his ancestral house," police said.
