Man held for raping four-year-old girl in Rajasthan

A 38-year-old man has been arrested for raping a four-year-old girl and dumping her in a serious condition behind some bushes in Rajasthan's Sikar city, police said on Wednesday.

Police said Pawan Kumar Vishnoi used to work as a waiter in a Sikar hotel. After CCTV footage of the alleged rapist was released by police, he ran away from the city to Nokha in Bikaner district.

"We have arrested 38-year-old Pawan Kumar Vishnoi in this rape case. He was brought from Nokha in Bikaner district, interrogated and later arrested," Inspector General of Police (Jaipur Range) D.C. Jain told IANS.

He was arrested on rape charges and also under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

On Friday, the girl was sleeping with her mother when she was allegedly abducted. She was later found behind bushes near the place from where she was abducted.

The girl later underwent a 3-4-hour-long surgery in Jaipur's state-run J.K. Lon Hospital.

Police meanwhile launched a massive manhunt for the accused and conducted a door-to-door survey.

CCTV footage showing a suspect standing near the girl was also released by police.
