A person was killed and three others injured, one of them critically, over a petty issue in Ghaziabad district of Uttar Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

Police said accused Bittu barged into victim Murari's house in Arthala area and beat him up with an iron rod over the issue of a live wire passing through the locality.

Murari's brother and about five to six other neighbours who tried to intervene were also beaten up by the accused and his over a dozen accomplices.

After police was called to the spot, the injured were taken to nearby Narendra Mohan Hospital, where doctors declared Murari brought dead.

His brother Tripurari was referred to the GTB Hospital in Delhi in a critical condition. Two other injured were discharged after first aid.

"We have registered a criminals case against the accused and are conducting raids to arrest them," Sahibabad police station's Inspector Rashid Ali said.
