A man brutally murdered his six-year-old nephew for a ransom of Rs.20,000, police said.
The body of the boy, missing since Tuesday, was found Wednesday on the city outskirts.
The body of Yash Raj Kumar was recovered near Peeran Lake near Narsangi. Morning walkers found the body and informed the police. The boy's school identity card was also found there.
Yash of Ghode Ki Khabar neighbourhood was a student of LKG at a private school. His parents had lodged a complaint after he did not return home from the school.
By evening, police arrested two people, including Vinod, the maternal uncle of the victim.
Police said Vinod kidnapped the boy and demanded Rs.20,000 from his parents. He later panicked, fearing he might be arrested if the boy opened his mouth, and hence murdered him.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Zone) V. Satyanarayana told reporters they also arrested Anup, who is suspected to have helped Vinod in the crime.
The police officer said the accused strangled the boy to death, crushed his head with a boulder and also tried to burn the body so the victim could not be identified.
The officer said further investigations were on.
