Man nabbed for sodomy attempt on minor in Delhi

A man was arrested here for attempting to sodomise a five-year-old boy after kidnapping him along with two other minors, police said Friday.

Irfan, a labourer residing in east Delhi's Shastri Park, was arrested Thursday night from a park in the Kotwali area of north Delhi.

The three kidnapped children in the age group of five to nine years were rescued from his clutches, a police officer said.

"A Delhi Police constable heard the screams of a boy from a park. Upon inquiry, he caught the accused red-handed attempting to sodomise the boy whom he had kidnapped along with two other minors from Adarsh Nagar area of north Delhi Thursday evening," said the official.

The victims informed police that the accused took them along on the pretext of providing them ice-cream when they were playing a few metres away from their residence.

"The victims have been united with their families. But, investigators were surprised as the family members of the boys did not register any complaint about the missing children," the officer added.
