English football club Manchester United is preparing an offer of 25 million pounds ($36 million) to acquire the services of Spanish giants Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
If the deal is agreed, Varane may play under the helm of Portuguese coach Jose Mourinho, who is tipped to take over coaching at United next season. Mourinho signed the French defender for Real Madrid when he was its coach, reports Efe.
French media reports revealed last week that Varane is upset for not starting in the Madrid's last three games in the Champions League and may leave for German champions Bayern Munich or United.
The French paper Le 20 Sport said on Wednesday that if the 23-year-old France defender decides to leave Madrid, two clubs are targeting him: Bayern, which will be led by former Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti next season, and United, which is reportedly close the deal with Mourinho.
