Maoist guerrillas on Tuesday shot dead a man and his minor daughter in Khunti district of Jharkhand, police said.
Some members of People's Liberation Front of India (PLFI), a banned Maoist outfit, raided a home at Bamarza village in Khunti, about 70 km from here, and tried to drag a minor girl out of the house, said the police.
When the father of the girl resisted, the guerillas first shot to death the girl and then her father.
The police has taken the bodies in its possession and is investigating the reason for the killing.
Maoist guerrillas are active in 18 of the state's 24 districts.
