Mars' first images presented to Modi

ISRO scientists Thursday presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi the first images of the Martian surface taken by Mangalyaan, a statement said.

Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists met the prime minister and presented the images, it said.

India Wednesday created history by becoming the first country whose spacecraft entered into Mars' orbit in its debut attempt.

India's Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) traversed over 650 million km through deep space for over nine months to successfully reach the planet's orbit. The US, Europe and Russia had failed in their first attempts.
