The membership of 18 members of the outgoing Uttar Pradesh assembly has been cancelled for defection, officials said on Friday.
The decision, taken under the anti-defection law, was taken by Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey on Thursday.
The members are Rajesh Tripathi, Bala Prasad Awasthi, Mahaveer Singh Rana, Om Kumar, Harvinder Kumar Saini, Roshan Lal Verma, Ayodhya Prasad Pal, Dharm Singh Saini, Rajni Tiwari, Mamtesh Shakya and Gendalal Chowdhary (Bahujan Samaj Party), Dilnawaz Khan, Nawab Qazim Ali, Mohammad Muslim, Sanjay Pratap Jaiswal, Vijay Kumar Dubey and Madhuri Verma (Congress) and Vijay Bahadur Yadav (Bharatiya Janata Party).
