The crew members of the China-bound merchant vessel, who went missing after their ship sank near Sagar Island in West Bengal, were located Sunday night by the Coast Guard.
The 18-member crew comprising mostly Chinese nationals of the Panama registered MV Bingo left the ship in a life raft after the vessel was caught in the cyclonic storm Phailin Saturday night.
They were located some 45 nautical miles off Sagar Island, Coast Guard commandant Rajendra Nath said.
"We have requested both the West Bengal and Odisha police to help us in rescuing the crew," he said.
The ship carrying iron ore left Haldia Dock Complex Saturday.
