Night temperatures across the Kashmir Valley Thursday remained below the freezing point as the weather bureau forecast further drop in the mercury in the coming week.
The minimum temperature was 2.0 degrees Celsius below freezing point in Srinagar, minus 3.8 degrees in Pahalgam, minus 2.0 in Gulmarg, a whopping 10.2 degrees Celsius below zero in Leh and minus 5.4 in Kargil town of the Ladakh region.
"Night temperature remained below the freezing point in the valley and the Ladakh region while the minimum temperature was 10.4 degrees in Jammu city Thursday," an official of the meteorological department told IANS.
The official said the present cold wave conditions would continue in the Kashmir Valley as the night temperature is likely to drop more gradually during the next seven days, and the weather is expected to remain dry across the state.
