Emanuel and Maxi Biancucchi, cousins of Argentine star Lionel Messi, expressed their surprise at the support of fans upon joining Brazilian club Bahia.
Speaking at a press conference Monday, the Argentinian brothers spoke of their desire to bring success to the Salvador-based outfit, reports Xinhua.
"I honestly did not expect the affection that has been shown to us," Maxi said. "I was taken aback by the welcome I received at the airport. I am very happy and I hope that I can repay the fans on the pitch."
Maxi, a winger and forward, joined the club from local rivals Vitoria while Emanuel played last season with Paraguay's Olimpia.
"There were so many fans to greet us," Emanuel said. "I hope to be able to live up to their expectations and help the team win important trophies."
