Italian football champions Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio has urged his teammates to push on from Saturday's dramatic win in the local derby against Torino in order to make up ground on their rivals at the top of the Serie A table.
Marchisio was on Sunday adamant that the three points against their inter-city rivals should represent a turning point in his side's season. Juventus are currently 10th in the standings and have 15 points from 11 games -- nine behind league leaders Fiorentina.
"It was just important that we got the three points. We now need to build on this result in order to achieve our objectives this term. The players took on board the constructive criticism we've all received and that showed as we overcame some problems in a tough match against Torino," Marchisio told the club's website.
"When you put on this shirt you need to give everything: here there are players who have won a lot in their careers and now we find ourselves in a different situation than in previous years, but this team was assembled to challenge for honours and that's what we need to do."
On Tuesday, the Bianconeri take on Borussia Monchengladbach in the European Champions League and Italian international Marchisio claims a positive result would set the side up nicely for a spot in the competition's last 16.
"Going to Germany will be a completely different match. They've won their last six fixtures in the league and will have the advantage of playing in front of their home support.
"Nevertheless we'll be fighting for the three points, which would allow us to put more than one foot in the knockout stages, as that's the minimum aim."
