Two persons, including a minor, who were arrested on the charge of shooting at a property dealer in the national capital, drew their inspiration for the crime from a Hindi movie, Delhi Police said here on Wednesday.

Deepak, 38, and his juvenile nephew were held from Brahmpuri area of northeast Delhi, police said.

They had opened fired at neighbour Ashok Kumar on August 5 while he was driving, injuring him in the ribs and shoulders.

"During investigation, it was found that the accused took inspiration from a Hindi movie 'Drishyam' to concoct a story of a fake tour to Rajasthan and even kept bus tickets ready to give an alibi to police," Deputy Commissioner of Police (north east) A.K. Singla told reporters here.

"Before committing the crime, Deepak told his family members and others that he was going to Balaji Mehandipur on August 5," Singla said.

"Deepak also made sure his face was captured in the closed-circuit television when he visited the Balaji temple in Rajasthan, just as the movie hero did."

As for the motive for the attack, the officer said the accused was angry since Ashok allegedly harboured bad intentions for his sister-in-law and also used filthy language for her.
