Mobile snatcher traced through tracker device

A thief who snatched a mobile was arrested after his victim tracked him with the help of a tracker device inbuilt in the snatched mobile, police said on Saturday.

The snatcher, identified as Sandeep Kumar, 22, a recovery agent for BSES, was arrested a few hours after he snatched the iPhone-6 mobile of Nishant Verma, a resident of Janakpuri in west Delhi, from outside his house on Friday.

"At the time of snatching, Verma was sending messages to his friends. The accused riding on a bike snatched the victim's mobile and fled," Deputy Commissioner of Police Pushpender Kumar said.

The official said that the victim without wasting his time shared the information of the incident with his wife and they switched on their I-Pad.

"Verma took his wife's phone and chased the accused with the help of tracker device as his wife was providing assistance to him by giving the location input of the snatched mobile," said the official.

"Finally, Verma traced the snatcher by locating his place and held him with the help of public," the official said.

The snatcher, working as a recovery agent in BSES power limited, told police that he took to snatching to meet the expenses of his luxurious lifestyle.
