Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday assured aid to Tamil Nadu for the widespread damage due to torrential rains and floods.
"Our government assures full help to Tamil Nadu," Modi said in his Mann Ki Baat radio address to the nation.
Rains lashed four districts in Tamil Nadu - Cuddalore, Chennai, Thiruvallur and Kanchipuram - during the last couple of weeks, killing about 180 people.
On November 23, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa sought central funding of Rs.8,481 crore for flood relief and immediate relief of Rs.2,000 crore.
Modi had instructed that aid of Rs.939.63 crore be released to the state.
During his radio address, Modi said: "I have full faith in Tamil Nadu. It will rise... Central government teams are already deployed there."
