Touted as the country's first facility of its kind, 'Busopolis'-- a bus terminal along with a commercial centre and a hotel -- will soon get operational in Punjab's Mohali town, adjoining Chandigarh.

Called the C&C Mohali Junction, the 'busopolis' is not just an inter-state bus terminus (ISBT), but the new facility is a state-of-the-art air-conditioned bus terminal along with a commercial hub, a hotel and even a helipad.

"The project is more about the place, and it will be interesting to see how the traveller's lives will change with the coming up of Mohali junction. The project will give accessibility, efficiency, and convenience to the business traveller. At the same time, there will be ample leisure facilities for the traveller," C.V.S. Sehgal, Chief General Manager of C&C Constructions, said.

Derived from the concept of 'Aerotropolis' (mega airports), the Mohali 'busopolis' promises to provide facilities to shop, eat, sleep, entertainment and even knowledge exchange under the same roof.

"Within the proximity of all major touch points in Chandigarh, Mohali Junction will be your next trendy neighbourhood and a place to hang out," a spokesperson for the company said here on Thursday.

"With connectivity and innovative commercial spaces playing a significant role in the country and state economies, Mohali Junction is set to redefine the way we travel and conduct business," Sehgal said.

Spread across an area of over seven acres, the futuristic facility is strategically located in Mohali, along National Highway 21, which links to major areas in Punjab and neighbouring Himachal Pradesh.

"The ISBT will be functional 24x7 so the people of Chandigarh and suburbs have a night life where they can shop, eat, drink and enjoy," the spokesperson said.

The mega project, built under the public-private partnership (PPP) mode with the government of Punjab, had earlier got delayed.
