Mohun Bagan Tuesday sacked Kenyan striker Harrison Eric Muranda and recruited Chizoba Christopher of Nigeria as its fourth foreign footballer for the ongoing soccer season.
Muranda, roped in by the city soccer giants in August as their fourth foreigner, has faced criticism over his poor performance. Mohun Bagan now lie a lowly 11th in the 13-team league.
"Mohun Bagan have released Harrison Eric Muranda and have recruited Chizoba Christopher as fourth foreigner for the season 2013-14," the club said in a statement.
The 22-year-old Christopher would join his teammates during training Wednesday.
This decision was taken after discussions between the directors of Mohun Bagan and chief coach Karim Bencherifa, the club said.
The other foreigners in the club are Nigerian forward Odafa Okolie, defender Anyichie Echezona and Japanese midfielder Katsumi Yusa.
