The Uttar Pradesh government has set its eyes on a mono rail project that would connect Noida with Agra.
After the foundation stone was laid for expressway between Agra and Lucknow Sunday, the state government now intends to launch the mono rail project soon.
Officials said Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has given his nod to the project that envisages the mono rail covering the 200 km distance between Noida and Agra in an hour.
A high-powered committee at its meeting Nov 19 in Lucknow discussed the project. Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said the mono rail would benefit Agra in a big way.
The Noida Metro Rail Corporation was asked to execute the project.
The mono rail would connect the Mahamaya flyover in Noida, the Buddh International circuit and Mathura with Agra. An official said the mono rail will run along the Yamuna river.
