Monsoon reached Delhi Sunday, two weeks ahead of the schedule, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

"Monsoon has reached Delhi and it is two weeks ahead of the schedule,"an IMD official told IANS.The monsoon was set to arrive in Delhi on June 29.

"The low pressure area that has been formed in the area around west Madhya Pradesh has resulted in the early setting of the monsoon,"added the IMD official.

Around 19 millimeter (mm) rainfall has been recorded in the capital since 8:30 a.m in the morning.

The rainfall is expected to continue for the next two to three days, the officials added.
