More rain likely in Kashmir

It was a cloudy Tuesday morning with light rain in Srinagar where the minimum temperature settled at 10 degrees Celsius.

The local weather office has forecast partly cloudy sky and light to moderate rainfall in the state till Wednesday.

"We are expecting light rain accompanied by thundershowers at a few places in the state...," an official of the weather office told IANS here.

Jammu and Kashmir received intermittent rains for the last one week, causing waterlogging in many areas, mostly in the Kashmir Valley.

March was the wettest month in the state during the last 32 years.

The weather office has forecast decrease in precipitation from April 9 onwards in the state.

"There will be decrease in day temperatures and significant increase in the night temperature during this period in the state," an official said.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday at Pahalgam and Gulmarg was 3.6 degrees and 2.5 degrees Celsius respectively.

"Kargil and Leh towns of the Ladakh region remained cold at minus 0.6 and 0.5 degree Celsius respectively," the official said.

In Jammu region's Banihal town, the minimum temperature was 8.2 degrees, at Batote town it was 9.1 degrees and in Bhaderwah town it was 8.1 degrees Celsius.

The overnight minimum temperature in Jammu city was 15.9 degrees Celsius.
