The most voluble opposition to demonetisation is coming from West Bengal and Uttar Pradesh, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said on Friday, claiming those who had the now-scrapped Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes were shouting the most.

"Those who had 1,000- and 500-rupee notes have been shouting. Where is the noise coming from? West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh... their poll preparations have come to naught. Therefore, the only thing they can do is blame (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi. I am sure Pappu did it today too. I do not want to say much," Parrikar said while obliquely referring to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

While Parrikar was speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party meeting in Porvorim town, a short distance from Panaji, Gandhi was at a public meeting in south Goa's Margao town.

Parrikar also accused the Congress and other opposition parties of disrupting Parliament, claiming the ruckus caused by the opposition "bored" the treasury benches.

"They bored us for a month... We prepare for questions before sitting there and they only shout and scream," Parrikar said.

The winter session of Parliament started on November 16 and ended on Friday, which was marred by repeated disruptions and adjournments.
