A woman died while her two children were severely injured in a fire at their house here on Thursday afternoon, police said.
"Swati Misra (40) received serious burn injuries along with her two-year-old daughter and 10-month-old baby boy in a fire at their residence at 3.50 p.m. on Thursday," an officer from Shyampukur police station said.
"The three victims were immediately taken to Kolkata's R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital by the locals. While the mother succumbed to the injury, the two kids are undergoing treatment at the hospital," he said.
Police have registered a case of "unnatural death" as the reason for fire is yet to be ascertained.
"No suicide note was recovered from the spot," the officer added.
