The Union Cabinet on Wednesday said that an MoU signed between Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) and Korea Railroad Research Institute (KRRI) last month will strengthen scientific and technical cooperation in railways.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signed on July 10, will provide a platform for the Indian Railways to interact and help share the latest developments and knowledge in the railway sector with its Korean counterpart, a Cabinet statement said here.
"The MoU will facilitate exchange of technical experts as well as reports and documents, training and seminars focusing on specific technology areas and other interactions for knowledge-sharing."
The agreement will provide a framework of cooperation for focused approach in planning and execution of joint research, cooperation in setting up latest railway research and development facilities in India, planning and execution of technical seminars or fora, and short-term training programme for RDSO personnel by KRRI.
The Ministry of Railways has signed MoUs for technical cooperation in the rail sector with various countries, said the statement, adding that identified areas of cooperation include high-speed corridors, train speed increase on existing routes, development of world-class stations, heavy-haul operations and modernisation of rail infrastructure.
