MPs on Sunday paid homage to Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore on his 155th birth anniversary, a Lok Sabha official said.
Among those who attended a special event in the Central Hall of Parliament House were Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and former deputy prime minister L.K. Advani.
The MPs were presented a booklet on Tagore published by the Lok Sabha Secretariat in Hindi and English.
A portrait of Tagore in the Central Hall was unveiled on September 12, 1958 by then President Rajendra Prasad.
Tagore's major works include Gitanjali, Gora and Ghare-Baire.
Pupularly known as Gurudev, he was born in Bengal in May 1861 and died in August 1941.
