BJP's new entrant Mukul Roy on Wednesday replied to a legal notice served by Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee for making statements against him relating to Biswa Bangla and asked Banerjee to convey an apology publicly within seven days.
"We have analysed every word and sentence of the notice and pointed out what Roy had said was factual and correct. We have also asked Abhishek Banerjee's lawyer to withdraw or cancel the notice and convey an apology publicly within seven days," Roy's lawyer told reporters here.
On Monday, the Trinamool Congress Youth Wing President had served a legal notice on Roy for making "malicious and defamatory" statements against him and demanded an unconditional apology within 48 hours.
Last week, Roy alleged that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee's "Biswa Bangla" logo and the Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation were owned by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.
Roy, who was one of the founding members of Trinamool Congress, had said: "In a trademark journal published by the Trade Marks Authority of the government of India, on May 8, 2017, the Biswa Bangla mark is shown as wholly owned by Abhishek Banerjee, the nephew of Mamata Banerjee."
Denying Roy's comments relating to Biswa Bangla Marketing Corporation, two senior West Bengal government officials had said the company was wholly owned by the state government.
