A court here on Monday gave a last chance to police to file its report in a case related to not filing of an FIR against Samajawadi Party chief Mulayam Singh for allegedly threatening Amitabh Thakur, a senior IPS officer.
The court's directive came after the Hazratganj police failed for the third time to file its report before the chief judicial magistrate (CJM) here.
Thakur had complained about Mulayam Singh allegedly threatening him over phone on July 10.
After Thakur's counsel Akhilesh Awasthi put forth a serious objection to this wanton disregard to the court, Chief Judicial Magistrate Som Prabha Mishra gave the Hazratganj police the last opportunity to to produce its report by Thursday, directing that the matter shall be heard finally on Friday.
Thakur had presented a complaint to Inspector Vijaymal Singh Yadav of Hazratganj police station on July 11 and later to Lucknow Senior Superintendent of Police Rajesh Pandey on July 23, when the Hazratganj police failed to register the FIR.
Inspector Vijaymal Singh Yadav of Hazratganj police intimated Thakur through a letter, dated July 17, that his complaint had been enquired into and not found to be true.
Calling the enquiry against the provisions of law, the IPS officer, now suspended and facing a slew of probes, presented the complaint on July 31 under section 156(3) CrPC before the CJM for registration of an FIR, on which the CJM had called for the police report.
On August 4, 14, and 24, Hazraganj police failed to submit the required report.
