Mumbai's renowned artist Prakash Bal Joshi has been named to the jury of an international art and music competition to promote global peace organised by World Citizens Artists (WCA).
"It is a worldwide art movement in partnership with London-based Belgravia Gallery and the Playing for Change Foundation. The competition theme is 'Peace'," Joshi told IANS here Monday.
He termed the honour as a rare opportunity for emerging and established artists from south-east Asia to participate and exhibit their works at the gallery which houses the works of Picasso, Prince of Wales, Nelson Mandela, Andy Warhol and Matisse.
"I am delighted to announce the opening of a competition that enables new and established artists alike to promote their work and the agenda of peace, at a time when this is needed more than ever," WCA founder Valerie Won Lee said.
The last date for submitting entries is Nov 16 and winners shall be declared Dec 5. The winning entries shall be exhibited at Belgravia Gallery for a month starting Dec 11, he said.
Similarly, the musician winners shall be featured in the traditional and social channels.
WCA (http://www.wcacompetition.com) with artists from over 20 countries, was launched to harness the expressive power of arts and raise global awareness and responsibility, said Joshi.
Playing for Change Foundation is a worldwide music foundation, operated in association with world-class musicians and producers, which assists children to learn music and work for peace.
Named Gallery of Year 2013, Belgravia Gallery regularly features works of renowned artists and celebrities and is ranked among the leading art galleries of Europe.
