He may have missed a chance to perform in Mumbai following Shiv Sena's protest, but the songs and melodies of Pakistani ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali will transcend across the border with a special musical tribute on a radio channel on Sunday.

Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM will be playing songs by Ghulam Ali, who has regaled music lovers across the globe over the past 45 years.

One can expect hits like "Chupke chupke raat din", "Hangama hai kyon barpa", "Teri yaad yaad yaad" and "Hum tere shahar mein" on the show, which will be hosted by radio jockey Sayema.

Sayema is excited to be backing such a peace bringing inattentive.

"Ghulam Ali sahab's music symbolises love and harmony. We are always excited to support all such activities and campaigns that promote peace and spread love among the people," Sayema said in a statement.

"Music shouldn't be held hostage to populist politics or geographical identities. Ghulam Ali enjoys a massive fan base in India and as a music loving radio station we are compelled to spread more of his music," said Radio Mirchi managing director and CEO Prashant Panday.

Meanwhile, the 75-year-old Ghulam Ali has also expressed his disappointment over his concert at Mumbai being scrapped, as it was being held as a part of the death anniversary tribute to singer Jagjit Singh.

Ghulam Ali said he is not angry, but a bit hurt and sad.

He also emphasised that borders between countries cannot restrict the music from streaming into the hearts of people.

To ensure that maximum number of people get to enjoy his music, Radio Mirchi will simulcast the concert to a majority of its radio stations all over India.
