Abu Dhabi, Nov 5 (IANS/WAM) The State Security Court of the Federal Supreme Court in Abu Dhabi Tuesday adjourned the hearing in the trial of a Muslim Brotherhood group comprising 24 people until Nov 12 to hear prosecution witnesses.
The State Security Court, presided over by Judge Mohammed al-Jarrah al-Tunaiji, took the decision at the request of defence in the first session of the trial.
The court also decided to delegate a three-member medical committee to examine some of the suspects.
The trial Tuesday was held in the presence of representatives of the media and civil society organisations and relatives of the suspects.
According to the Abu Dhabi daily The National, the defendants have been accused of secretly establishing a branch of the Muslim Brotherhood organisation in the United Arab Emirates and raising funds.
The accused were reportedly involved in raising funds and resources to support the organisation in its country of origin, Egypt, the newspaper report said.
