Peace negotiators of the Myanmar government and ethnic armed groups have set early January 2015 to hold the seventh round of talks to finalise the draft of a nationwide ceasefire accord, sources said.
The technical coordination meeting between the government's Union Peace Making Work Committee (UPWC) and the ethnic armed groups' National Ceasefire Coordination Team (NCCT) agreed more remaining points for drafting the nationwide ceasefire accord, Xinhua reported citing sources the with the Myanmar Peace Centre Tuesday where a coordination meeting of the two sides was held for two days.
The two sides expected that the nationwide ceasefire accord could be signed in mid-February after finalisation.
The sixth round of nationwide ceasefire talks were held in September, approving the fourth draft of the ceasefire agreement.
Meanwhile, in the course of the ceasefire talks, armed clashes were reportedly took place in Shan and Kachin states.
