Three Myanmarese have been arrested here for their alleged ties to a banned fundamentalist outfit and involvement in the explosions in West Bengal's Burdwan town.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Krishnapada Roy said they arrested the "Rohingya militants" from Lalbagh's Etimkhana Mor around 9.30 p.m. Sunday, bdnews24.com reported Monday.
The arrested men were identified as Nur Hossain alias Rafikul Islam, 26, Yasir Arafat, 22, and Omar Karim, 25.
They were believed to be in close connection with Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh(JMB).
They were caught with five detonators, two gelatine explosives and several bomb-making ingredients, said Saidur Rahman, additional deputy commissioner of detective branch.
"They are Rohingya militants, they have links to Rohingya Soliditary Organisation (RSO), Arakan Rohingya Union(ARU) and Netherlands-based NGO, Global Rohingya Centre (GRC)," Rahman added.
Two suspected militants were killed in Burwan town Oct 2 in explosions at a house that had been turned into a bomb-making facility. India's National Investigation Agency said the house was being used by militants belonging to the JMB, a banned extremist group from Bangladesh.
Sheikh Rahmatullah Sajid, said to be the head of JMB's module in the town, was arrested in Kolkata. Detectives believe he is known as Masum in his home town in Bangladesh's Narayanganj district.
Another Rohingya man Khalid Mohammad had been arrested from Hyderabad in connection with the incident.
