Myanmar President U Thein Sein Wednesday vowed to push the country's national reconciliation efforts, saying that a nationwide ceasefire with all armed groups could be signed soon.
He said the government has been able to keep in touch and hold peace talks with 13 ethnic armed groups, Xinhua reported.
Thein Sein urged all-out efforts in order to bring tangible results in the remaining 30 months of the present five-year term of his government.
For the remaining period of office, Thein Sein stressed high priority would be given to fulfilling the basic and socio-economic need of the people, citing areas such as electricity supply, adequate drinking and irrigation water, small and medium-sized enterprises and industrial development for creating more job opportunities.
In the national economic development drive, he said more measures will be taken to assure regional security, peace and stability and the rule of law.
