The Myanmar government and the UN Children's Fund (Unicef) are planning to collect data on child labour as part of a four-year plan for elimination of child labour in the country, Myanmar's ministry of labour, employment and social security said Wednesday.

The data include work hours, protection, safety, working environment, psychological condition and education of child labourers, Xinhua reported.

The four-year plan, which started Jan 1 this year and will end Jan 30, 2017, includes five steps, focusing on raising awareness of child labour, promoting efficiency of governmental personnel and stakeholders who will participate in the drive for elimination of child labour and reviewing local laws as to whether they are in conformity with the standard of international laws.

The Child Labour Law allows children aged 13 to 16 to work four hours per day.

The Myanmar National Plan of Action for Children 2006-2015 is being implemented, according to earlier report.

The country is also making arrangements to open early childhood care and development centres in Yangon.
