Renewable energy producer Mytrah Energy (India) Ltd. on Tuesday announced that it will sponsor shot-putter Inderjeet Singh for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Inderjeet is the first track and field Indian athlete to qualify for the Rio Olympics. In 2015, he finished first at three major events -- Asian Championships in Wuhan, Asian Grand Prix in Bangkok and Universiade in Gwangju.

"I am grateful to Mytrah for their support to me in pursuing my Olympic dreams. Mytrah's backing will give a big boost to my preparations," said Inderjeet.

Inderjeet had also qualified for the final at the Beijing World Championships last month.
