Spaniard Rafael Nadal beat compatriot David Ferrer in straight sets to win his eighth French Open title at Roland Garros here Sunday.
The third seed won 6-3, 6-2, 6-3 over the fourth-seeded Ferrer to become the most successful player in French Open history, reports Xinhua.
The 27-year-old, Nadal, who won his first title here in 2005, has lost only one match since losing to Robin Soderling in the round of 16 in 2009.
The French Open title is also his twelfth Grand Slam title.
"It's one of the most special ones," the victorious Nadal said to the crowd.
"In the last year I have had some low moments but without my family I would not have done this. Without my physio I could not have done this. I never realised something like this could happen for me."
