Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Thursday filed papers to get renominated to the Rajya Sabha for a second stint.
His present term will end on April 2. The last date for filing the nominations for the lone seat from Himachal Pradesh is March 12.
"Nadda is the party's lone candidate," state BJP President Satpal Satti told reporters here.
As per the election schedule, there will be polling on March 23 if the main opposition Congress fields its candidate.
In the 68 member house, the BJP has a two-thirds majority with 44 seats. Two independents are also supporting the government.
The opposition Congress has 21 seats.
