The National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) announced Tuesday that specially-curated fund-raising events will be held later this month, the earnings from which will be donated towards flood relief in Kerala.
As a part of this initiative, NCPA has curated two fundraiser programmes: a concert led by celebrated singer Kailash Kher on September 28 and a multi-dance presentation featuring eleven acts by renowned Classical dancers, along with their dance troupes on September 30.
Notably, the artistes will be performing free of cost in a bid to "selflessly contribute" towards the flood revival operations, NCPA said.
"We all are well aware of the current state in Kerala. Our hearts go out to those families who have lost their homes and dear ones. Kerala has given us many established artists and continues to do so. As an organisation, it is our duty to help them rebuild their lives and we will do so through all possible efforts," said NCPA Chairman Khushroo N. Suntook.
In addition to the events, NCPA will also donate the box Office earnings of the shows "Shyam Rang" by Parthiv Gohil and two Western music recitals towards the aid.
Opening its doors to the world in 1969, the NCPA became the first multi-venue and multi-purpose cultural centre to be built in South Asia. NCPA today provides a fine showcase for India's rich performing arts traditions, all thanks to the institution's training and research initiatives.
