The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a top leader of the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB-S) from Guwahati.
Amal Mushahary, a resident of Kokrajhar in Assam, was arrested on Monday.
Mushahary is the finance member of the NDFB-S and also the personal secretary of the outfit's commander-in-chief G. Bidai, the mastermind of the December 2014 massacre in which 76 adivasis were gunned down at five places in Sonitpur and Kokrajhar districts.
"Mushahary's arrest was shown when he was brought before a Special NIA Court in Guwahati...," said a NIA official.
Mushahary has been taken into police custody for five days, the officer said.
