The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Monday reviewed the monsoon situation in the country in view of forecast of very heavy rain over the next couple of days.
The forecast for heavy rain was given by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
R.K. Jain, NDMA member secretary, chaired a meeting attended by the IMD director general, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) director general and the resident commissioners or representatives of the states of Sikkim, West Bengal, Bihar and Assam, an official release here said.
The states were advised to be on maximum alert and be ready to deal with any situation. The NDMA offered all possible assistance in terms of NDRF teams.
