The national capital and its adjoining areas have recorded 5,982 cases of dengue till September 26, while the toll stands at 17, authorities said on Monday.
Unofficially, the toll figure confirmed by media reports stands at over 60.
The number of dengue cases recorded so far are the highest since 2010 - over 6,000 in 2010, 1,131 in 2011, 2,093 in 2012, 5,574 in 2013 and 995 in 2014.
Even the cases of death recorded this year are the highest in comparison to the same time frame. The number of dengue deaths in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 were, respectively, 8, 8, 4, 6 and 3.
