Nepal gets new chief justice

Nepal President Ram Baran Yadav on Wednesday appointed Justice Kalyan Shrestha as the new chief justice of the country, officials said.

The president appointed Shrestha, 64, as the new chief justice on the recommendation of the Constitutional Council, Xinhua news agency reported citing advisor to the president Surya Dhungel.

The oath-taking ceremony was held at the president's office in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning. Subsequently, Shrestha assumed office.
