The Delhi Assembly on Monday constituted a nine-member 'Special Inquiry Committee' to probe alleged irregularities and corruption in bodies administering cricket and hockey sports in Delhi.
The committee will submit its report to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel before the commencement of the sixth assembly session.
The proposal to constitute the committee was moved by Sadar Bazar's legislator Som Dutt and was passed by the House, which is dominated by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The committee will comprise AAP MLAs Madan Lal, Somnath Bharti, Rajendera Pal Gautam, Sanjeev Jha, Saurabh Bharadwaj, Alka Lamba, Vijender Garg, Amanatullah Khan and Rajesh Gupta.
The committee will look into the working, management and administration (including alleged financial irregularities) of the bodies that are entrusted with administering and managing the affairs of cricket and hockey in Delhi.
It will recommend measures to turn these administrative bodies into effective and transparent institutions so that they could promote cricket and hockey by identifying and nurturing true talents.
