CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury on Friday said that there was no reference to Mahatma Gandhi's assassination in the speech of former President Pranab Mukherjee at the RSS headquarters on Thursday.
He told the media that irrespective of what Mukherjee spoke on pluraralism and multi-faiths, what would remain in public memory is his presence at the RSS headquarters.
"What his daughter has said is correct. Visuals will remain, the speech will be forgotten," he said.
The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) leader also said the RSS has had no role in the independence movement.
To a question, he said he would not have gone to RSS headquarters if he was invited.
