The winner of the Nobel Peace Prize Kailash Satyarthi Saturday called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi who congratulated him warmly on winning the award.
Satyarthi expressed enthusiasm about the prime minister's initiatives on Swachh Bharat (Clean India campaign) and Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (Parliamentarians model village scheme) and said he was keen to contribute to these causes. He expressed his commitment towards a child-labour free India, said an official statement.
The prime minister shared with Satyarthi his views on the use of social media and internet for tracking missing children. He also mentioned that he had established the world's first Children University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. He wished Satyarthi well in his future endeavours.
Satyarthi's family members, including his wife Sumedha Kailash and daughter Asmita Satyarthi along with other family members accompanied him to meet the prime minister.
Satyarthi along with Pakistan's Malala Yousufzai is this year's Nobel Peace Prize winner.
