Following non-release of pension and other dues to a widow of a retired Haryana Roadways employee, a luxury bus of the state transport in Gurugram was impounded here on a district court's orders.

The court ordered the attachment of the the Volvo bus -- costing around Rs 1 crore -- until the dues were not paid to Kailash Devi, whose late husband Dharamveer Yadav was a mechanic in the Haryana Roadways.

A resident of Tikli village near Badshahpur, he retired in 2006 but his pension was not released for unknown reasons. Yadav approached the court after he failed to get his pensionary dues despite efforts.

Yadav died, following which his wife began to pursue the court case.

"On February 26, 2015, the court ordered Haryana Roadways authorities to release pensionary and other benefits, but the court orders were not followed. I again approached the court," Kailash Devi said.

"The luxury bus was attached on Wednesday when it was ready to move to Chandigarh from the Gurugram bus stand. Passengers sitting in the bus were asked to deboard. The bus has since been parked in the Gurugram Depot," an official told IANS.

"Its keys, registration and other documents have been submitted in court and will remain there until dues of Kailash Devi are not cleared," he said.

Gurugram Depot General Manager Gaurav Antil confirmed that the bus (HR-55-3911) was impounded following the court order.

"An inquiry has been ordered as to why court orders were not followed. The culprits will not be spared," Antil said.

The luxury bus earns Rs 50,000 to Rs 60,000 on an average daily through passenger fares.
